Juliet’s Family Diamonds
When my mum was a child she remembers her great-grandmother losing the centre stone out of her fancy diamond ring. My mum managed to find it for her, so she was promised that in the future she would inherit the ring. She doesn’t wear much jewellery, and definitely wouldn’t be into ‘bling’, so remodelling the ring made a lot of sense. Luckily for me, she was also happy to share the diamonds with me!
I melted down some old gold that I had from various pieces, and made two bands and a setting for the oval stone. The smaller diamonds were antique-cut, and very irregular in shape, but Jemma managed to pavé set them beautifully for me! We are both delighted with our new rings, and we are wearing them all the time!
Remodelling jewellery is one of the best things that we do at Stonechat – I love hearing everybody’s stories and seeing old pieces get a new lease of life Being on the other end of the process was really fun for me, and I will always treasure this ring that is a family heirloom!
