TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Shopping online is a straightforward and efficient way to give someone you love a beautiful piece of contemporary jewellery – simple! Nevertheless, as with all things in life, there are a few terms and conditions to bear in mind… we don’t want to bog you down with big words, so we’ll try to keep everything as clear as possible.  In all of the information below, Stonechat Jewellers Ltd. is referred to as ‘Stonechat Jewellers’. You, the customer, are referred to as ‘you’.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR ORDERING THROUGH OUR WEBSITE

ORDERS PLACED THROUGH OUR WEBSITE

  1. Photography and product descriptions

Presentation is very important to us.  We work hard to clearly communicate and describe the appearance of all of the pieces of jewellery available.  Nevertheless, on occasion, there may be slight variances between the product in the photograph and the piece delivered.

  1. Timeframes

All our pieces of jewellery are subject to availability and, sometimes, delays may occur that are beyond our control.  If the piece you want to purchase is not available, we will contact you as soon as possible to give you an estimated delivery date.  If you have a specific deadline in mind, please do let us know when ordering – we will do everything we can to help you have the right piece in the right place at the right time. Please see our Shipping page for more information in relation to delivery details and timeframes.

  1. Prices

All our pieces of jewellery are charged at the price shown on the product page on the date you place the order.  All our prices are shown in euro and are inclusive of Irish VAT.  All taxes and duties are the responsibility of the recipient. All online orders are processed at our published prices, as detailed above.  We don’t expect there to be any unforeseen price changes.  Nevertheless, if this should occur, we will be in touch with you before proceeding any further with your order. If you are purchasing online from outside the euro zone, currency exchange rates and credit/debit card charges may make a difference to the amount charged to your credit/debit card.  Stonechat Jewellers is not responsible for currency exchange rates nor credit/debit card charges. Stonechat Jewellers reserves the right to review prices at any given time.  Errors and omissions are accepted.

  1. Payment

Ordering online is safe and secure, and we aim to be as flexible as possible.  All online credit card transactions are conducted via Stripe, and we accept payment by Visa, Visa Electron, MasterCard, Maestro, Diners and Discovery International. Paypal, which allows you to pay with your credit card, debit card, bank account or PayPal account balance, is also a payment option. Payment must be made in full before the piece of jewellery can be shipped. We do not store any of your financial information. Please see our Privacy Policy for further information.

  1. Returns and Exchanges

On the rare occasion that there is reason for a piece of jewellery to be returned, please remember……

  1. Only unworn pieces of jewellery can be returned and/or refunded.
  2. Any piece of jewellery to be returned must be sent back within 30 days of receipt.
  3. The jewellery must be returned in the original packaging.
  4. If returning a piece, please get in touch by email at shop@stonechatjewellers.ie to advise us that you are planning to send it back so that we can facilitate you accordingly.
  5. All return shipping is at your expense. Stonechat Jewellers recommends you return the piece via a secure, trackable service.  We do not accept any responsibility for any jewellery that is lost, stolen or damaged in transit to us.
  6. Please note that original postage costs are not refundable. An exception to this is the unlikely event of a piece being faulty upon receipt.
  7. Jewellery bought online can be returned and refunded within 30 days of receipt. Jewellery bought in the shop can only be returned and exchanged.  Refunds are not available for pieces of jewellery bought in the shop.
  8. Refunds will only be made to the original card/payment method used at the time of purchase.
  9. Refunds for online purchases are only available on standard stock pieces. Refunds are not available for bespoke, remodelled, personalised, engraved or customised pieces.
  1. Gift Returns

If you have received a piece of jewellery as a gift, we will happily offer an exchange for a piece of the same or greater value, once the outstanding balance has been paid.  Alternatively, we can issue a gift card for the value of the gift. Please note that the above terms in ‘Returns and Exchanges’ apply to all gift returns and exchanges.

  1. Faulty Goods

In the improbable event that a piece of jewellery is faulty or damaged on delivery, please contact us as soon as possible at shop@stonechatjewellers.ie so we can arrange a replacement or refund.  If the package you receive is damaged or open, please do not accept it, and contact us immediately to arrange a replacement.  We will carry the costs of postage to return the jewellery to us, as well as organising a re-delivery. Faulty jewellery can only be returned if it was already damaged when received by you.  A piece of jewellery that is returned as faulty will be assessed by us.  Any damage that is considered to be a direct result of fair wear or accidental damage will not be accepted as faulty.  We offer a full repairs service on pieces of jewellery purchased from Stonechat Jewellers.  There is a charge for this service which covers the cost of the repair as well as any related shipping costs. The exact charge is worked out on a case-by-case basis.

  1. Cancellations

Any amendments or cancellations to an order must be submitted via email at shop@stonechatjewellers.ie before your order has been shipped.  We will do our very best to assist you with any changes. Unfortunately, orders cannot be cancelled after they have been shipped.  If your order has already been shipped then it is not possible for us to redirect it.  As a result, on receipt of the order please refer to our returns instructions in the ‘Returns and Exchanges’ section above. This does not affect your statutory rights.

  1. Ownership

All goods are the property of Stonechat Jewellers until full payment is received.  All the designs within the Stonechat jewellery collections are the property of Stonechat Jewellers. The Stonechat Jewellers website, and all its contents, are protected by intellectual property rights and permission is given for personal use only.  Any use beyond that may constitute an infringement of the rights of the owners and may, as a result, lead to prosecution.

  1. Damage Limitation

We take great care when packaging and sending our jewellery.  Should a piece of jewellery be damaged in transit, Stonechat Jewellers will be responsible for replacement costs of the item only.  Stonechat Jewellers is not in any way responsible for any personal injury or damage to property.  Stonechat Jewellers cannot be held responsible for any damage or indirect loss caused by an online order arriving late or damaged.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR BESPOKE AND REMODELLING ORDERS

BESPOKE AND REMODELLING ORDERS

  1. Designs and intellectual property

As each customer is an individual with different requirements, we design on a case by case basis. Some projects are very straight forward. Others require a sketch or two, while some are better worked out using CAD (Computer Aided Design). All design methods aim to be as accurate as possible. All initial and completed jewellery ideas, sketches, designs and images developed by us for you remain our exclusive intellectual property. In addition, we hold the exclusive right to use images of designs and finished pieces in all forms of media and social media. Our area of expertise lies in contemporary jewellery. As a result, should it occur that a specific project doesn’t sit comfortably with our design aesthetic, we reserve the right to decline said project. You’ll be glad to hear this doesn’t happen too often!

  1. Quotes, deposits and refunds

When an order is placed we take a 20% deposit which can be paid in store or by credit card over the phone or through a Stripe payment link. This deposit is also required when CAD is used to finalise design details, as CAD work is outsourced to an industry expert. In all cases, the pending balance is payable when the piece of jewellery is being collected. All deposits are non-refundable. When remodelling your jewellery, the new piece is made specifically for you and, as a result, can’t be returned, exchanged or refunded. We want you to be 100% happy with your jewellery and, in the unlikely situation that this is not the case, we will look into redesigning your piece for you and quote accordingly. During your consultation, we will take note of the ideas discussed. Once the final design, details and corresponding quote are agreed and signed off, any design changes you make may carry an additional cost. This cost will be calculated as necessary. All quotes are in euro, and include VAT. We’re sure you appreciate that we cannot be held responsible for variations in exchange rates with other currencies.

  1. Timeframe

It can take a while to work out the details of your specific piece of jewellery, but good things come to those who wait! Once everything is clear and agreed, and the deposit has been paid, the lead time is 5-6 weeks, unless otherwise specified.

  1. Working with your old jewellery

We will be very careful when working with your metals, gemstones and diamonds, and treat them with the utmost respect. That said, unfortunately there is always a risk involved in using/resetting stones. When they are your diamonds and gemstones, this risk is also yours. We will keep you informed of any issues if, as and when they become apparent, as it is not possible to fully examine a diamond or gemstone until it has been removed from the metal it was originally set in. We’re sure you understand we cannot be held responsible for damage, breakages or chips in your diamonds or gemstones, or for replacing such items free of charge. In the case of us sourcing specific new diamonds or gemstones for you, the lead time may be slightly longer than normal, but it’s definitely worth waiting for the right stones! We will take full responsibility for diamonds and gemstones sourced by us. On a rare occasion, remodelled gold can chip or crack after it has been worn for a short time.  If this occurs, please return the piece of remodelled jewellery to us to repair it free of charge.  It is important to note, this does not mean there is a problem with your gold – it is simply a small amount of air that has been trapped inside the metal during the melting process.  99% of the time, we can spot this before the piece is finished and rectify it, but every so often it doesn’t appear until after some time.  The good news is, we know exactly how to fix it and your jewellery will be returned to you as good as new!

  1. Shipping

If you choose to send your metals, gemstones or diamonds to us by post, it is at your own risk. If we are sending jewellery to you, we always use registered post, or a national or international courier. In all cases, the parcel will need to be signed for when delivered. Until it is safely in your hands, it is covered by our insurance unless we have advised you otherwise. While we can insure the monetary value of jewellery being shipped to you, we cannot cover any sentimental value that the jewellery holds.  For this reason, we recommend collecting remodelled jewellery from our shop in Dublin 2, so that we can safely hand it over!

  1. Valuations

Should you have the original paperwork/valuation/certification for the piece of jewellery that is to be remodelled, including details for the diamonds/gemstones, we are happy to provide you with an updated valuation. These updated valuations are supplied in the case of the new piece of jewellery having a value in excess of 1000 euro. Without the corresponding original paperwork, unfortunately we are not in a position to supply a valuation. .

  1. Repairs and alterations

Should jewellery purchased from us need to be repaired, we will assess it on an individual basis. We generally don’t carry out repairs on jewellery not bought from us. Should we, as an exception to this rule, agree to carrying out a repair on jewellery that is not a Stonechat piece, we will stand over the specific work carried out, but not the rest of the item. Elective repairs or alterations, such as ring resizing or chain lengthening, can involve additional cost. Resizing will cost from 50 euro per ring. Other repairs/alterations will be quoted for as necessary.

  1. Care

It goes without saying, when not being worn, all jewellery should be kept in a box! And don’t swim, dig gardens or build stone walls wearing it!
